2011 Mercedes-Benz E-class - E350 - E550 Cabriolet - First Drive Review

At the launch of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-class convertible, the German carmaker brought along some classics from its past. We were thus reminded that golden oldies such as the 1971 280SE 3.5 were great four-place convertibles that could be hustled at reasonable speeds but couldn’t be considered sports cars.

We hesitate to speak of a platform because while the E-class coupe shares styling cues with the sedan, it’s largely based on the smaller, cheaper C-class. On the other hand, Read more…

2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe

After a few month hiatus, our spy photographers have once again caught up with the CL-replacing S-Class Coupe. The big two-door was spotted with virtually no camouflage, giving us our best look to date. The CL’s name change falls in line with Mercedes’ new naming scheme, which also included the E-Class Coupe.

New York Auto Show: 2011 Mercedes-Benz R-ClassWhat is it? A hurried midcycle freshening of some of the more unfortunate aspects of the Mercedes-Benz R-Class “sports tourer.” Help couldn’t come soon enough. And apparently more than a “freshening” was needed for this styling bomb.

How’s it look? Hearselike — still — from the back. An E-Class nose job helps disguise the R-Class coming, Read more…

Review: 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet

The new Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet is one of the sweetest convertibles around. It’s so elegant and easy to live with that it’s well worth a premium. That’s a good thing because the E350 starts at $57,725, making it much pricier than competing convertibles from Audi, BMW, and Lexus.

If you can afford it, this rear-wheel-drive midsize coupe is a perfect second or third car for weekend jaunts and tooling around town. Read more…
